Human beings can't know themselves until they have encountered God. Because of this, we have so many who idolize their own egos, so many with unhealthy pride, so many human beings clinging to the self, worshiping false gods. They have not encountered the true God, and because of this, they haven't known his true greatness. And how unfortunate is life when instead of finding the true God, one is adoring a false god: the god of money, the god of pride, the god of pleasure.
