He begins Chapter 3, Book 1 of On The Trinity in this way:
Let me ask of you my reader that, wherever you are certain, go on with me; wherever, you hesitate, join me in inquiring; wherever you recognize yourself to be in error, return to me; wherever you recognize me to be in error, call me back: so that we may enter together upon the path of charity, and advance towards Him of whom it is said, "Seek His face evermore."
