If you walk through our Augustinian high schools in the province, namely St. Augustine High School in San Diego, and Villanova Preparatory School in Ojai, you'll notice banners with the words Unitas, Caritas, and Veritas. We are commmitted not only to the education of our students' minds and bodies, but also to educating their hearts. For these reason, these Gospel values are part of the education at our schools.
Our Provincial, the Very Rev. Gary Sanders OSA, recently explained the Christological significance of these values. I briefly summarize his explanation:
Unitas: The Church is one, because the Church is the body of Jesus Christ who is one. In Christ and through His Spirit, we form part of this Body and become One in Him.
Veritas: Jesus is the truth.
Caritas: God is love. Jesus defines the meaning of love in the Cross.
